Geoff Archer at The Nicholson Gallery
The Nicholson Gallery is thrilled to be hosting ‘Rocks’ an exhibition by contemporary artist, Geoff Archer.
Geoff was born in Manchester in 1945 but has lived in Macclesfield for over forty years. In the late nineties he turned from images of the urban landscape to drawings and paintings of rocks – close-up details with a concentration on pattern, colour, tone and texture.
This exhibition presents responses both to local, Peak District rocks and to landscapes further afield, most notably that of the western United States. The 41 paintings are displayed thematically. This gives the visitor the opportunity to be inspired by, and explore Geoff’s unusual technique that results in stunning works of art.
Visitors will gaze in wonder at ‘Zabriskie Point,’ stunning oil on canvas measuring over seven metres in length only exhibited once before.
The exhibition opens Saturday 4th March until Saturday 8th April
Open Monday – Saturday: 10:00 – 4:00
CLOSED: Sundays & Bank Holidays
