‘Couch to 5K’ @ Brough Park

Get off the couch and start to get fit or fitter through running, jogging or even walking within the pleasant, traffic free parkland of Brough Park.
The aim is to transform you from couch potato to runner by allowing you to build up through a variety of distances: 1.5K, 2.2K, 3.6K and up to 5K and over, as many weeks as it takes.

Now in its seventh year, this exciting exhibition showcases the talent and creativity from the Foundation Degree in Creative Art and Design Practice. This award is validated by Derbyshire University and provides students with the opportunity to study part-time, developing strengths in their chosen art form, from painting and printmaking to ceramics and glass.
The diverse range of work on display shows the high level of professionalism, originality and imagination of the students and demonstrates their entrepreneurial expertise.

Another group requiring no introduction to Leek Arts Festival Fans – always colourful and energetic, the Folk Ensemble are one of the highlights of the programme.
Led by folk music legend Joe Broughhton, this group of more than 50 young and desperately enthusiastic musicians never fail to turn the Foxlowe into a boiling cauldron of sound and excitement.

This is another gig that will sell out fast.

Exhibition of works by award-winning Leek artist David Hunt. Inspired by the rugged Staffordshire Moorlands landscapes, David works with oil paints and soft pastels as well as a combination of pastels and gouache which brings an extra dimension to his paintings.
David’s daring use of light, colour and texture convey his powerful reaction to his surroundings capturing changing mood and atmosphere of these scenic landscapes.
